Hi I reformatted the memes page to organise them in an orderly fashion and added a few well-known memes as well. However I have problems with editing because some of the additions remain red even though I don't see anything wrong in the edit mode and I somehow am unable to unhide spoilers for one of the memes. I'm also relatively new to the fandom (though I've already caught up with the story) and there are some memes that I've seen but don't understand. I would like to seek help from the community here.

I fixed the things that were showing up as red. When you have somethat that's a mix of capital and lowercase letters, you have to put this around it: [=word=]. Otherwise, the wiki's coding thinks it's a wick to a page.

There were also several places where the [[/labelnote]] code hadn't been put in, so some of the memes were getting wrapped into others. Those should all be fixed now.

The game has a thread in the Video Games forum; that'd be the best place to ask about the memes you don't understand if you haven't already.

  • Some of the controls and tooltips for battlesuits can also be a bit bad about this; one of the most obvious examples is Swallowtail Seele, because while the tooltips tell you her Veil resource exists, and explains that her form change will consume it per-second, nowhere does it tell you that she needs to consume a full bar of 250 (out of 500 total) in order to use her mid-combo charge special attack. This can leave new players flailing and trying to figure out both why they can't seem to consistently use her charge move.

I'm just saying that this isn't notable because 1) people would get it when they play her anyway, 2) Mihoyo regularly fixes their tooltips.

Okay, so I added a Naginatas Are Feminine entry to the main page to cover Rita, Seele and Durandal's use of polearms tying into their comparative femininity compared to the rest of the cast. Some issue was taken with it, which, fair, but I do think it applies.

The trope page itself does note that modern use of the trope can extend to polearms more generally. And really, Rita and Seele are quite a bit more traditionally "girly", in their ways, than much of the rest of the cast, and this is used and shown in various ways. Durandal can seem like a bit more of a stretch, but she's the one who actually got me thinking about all this - that lance is still a polearm (basically), and in practice she in many ways actually fights in the most naginata-jutsu fashion of anyone on the cast. And she's a graceful Lady of War who gets directly contrasted against other characters like Mei.

So like, I'm not crazy, right? I'm not tripping quanta bubbles? It is, in fact, there and I'm not the only one who sees it?

Naginatas Are Feminine, even when it's not about naginatas specifically, are talking about whole cultures where people assume that polearms are female weapons.

That's what I get from reading the examples in that page

Moreover, scythes and lances give a different impression from naginatas.

One thing's been bothering me for a while. Global uses Roman numerals for story chapters. Should we swap to these?

Eh, it doesn't really bother me to leave them as numbers.

It's also not used consistently; the early chapters use arabo-romantic numerals, while they later switched to old roman numerals without changing the old chapters.

My own vote would just be to stick with what the official English client uses on a case by case basis.

Aren't you going against Willbyr's recommendation that tropes associated with multiple Valkyries should stay on the main page?

I mean, I agree, but

  • I feel that the Animal Motifs one fits better to describe individual characters than to be compiled with each other
  • there are only 2 cases of Big Eater, it's not "general" enough to be in the main page

And that system also reverted my other edits as well

I'm definitely going to put the Big Eater one back again, but I'm waiting for inputs for the other one

And I think Rapunzel Hair is not "general" in this case, either

Animal Motifs applies to six Valkyries; that's a clear candidate for inclusion on the main page. I'm working on putting the Big Eater entry back on the playable characters page.

EDIT: That's done.

Hair Decorations has been turned into a supertrope for a number of more specific tropes, including Meaningful Appearance and Signature Headgear. The examples here need to either be sorted into one of these two tropes or removed.

  • Hair Decorations:
    • In all of her battle outfits, Kiana wears a black hairband. Herrscher of the Void loses the hairband, but instead has a cross-shaped hair ornament. Kiana retains this ornament as Void Drifter (albeit modified).
    • Mei has different hair ornaments to tie her ponytail in each of her suits. As Lightning Empress she also has a small mask on her hair, as Crimson Impulse she has a V-shaped hairclip, and that's not mentioning her costumes yet.
    • Bronya has a pair of butterfly-shaped clips which secure her pigtails. It has different patterns in her different suits. As Herrscher of Reason, she has a mini crown-like ornament adorned with frilly blue cloth.
    • Himeko has a small black Nice Hat in her Blood Rose outfit. As Vermilion Knight, she has an orange wing-shaped ornament tying her hair.
    • Theresa as Valkyrie Pledge normally wears a nun's headdress, but she has an alternate costume that takes it off. Luna Kindred has 2 rose-shaped hair ornaments. Violet Executer has a nun's headdress made of metal, and Celestial Hymn has a different headdress with an attached cross ornament.
    • Fu Hua also has different ornament to tie her ponytail in each of her suits, but her signature one is on Valkyrie Accipiter's default outfit, the Divine Key, Fenghuang Down. In addition, Shadow Knight has 2 purple ornaments and Phoenix has a ring-shaped ornament with red feathers. Azure Empyrea has a brush-like hairpin tying her ponytail.
    • Rita wears a horned maid headdress as Umbral Rose and a normal black hairband as Phantom Iron. As Argent Knight, she wears a blue crown-like hair ornament that looks like it's made of ice, symbolizing the ice elemental damage she deals with this battlesuit.
    • Yae Sakura as Flame Sakitama wears long hairpins to tie her Prim and Proper Bun, as well as a horned hair ornament near one of her fox ears. Goshinsou Memento also has a blue clip near one of her fox ears. Darkbolt Jonin wears a black fox mask on her hair.
    • Kallen has a small hairclip as Imayoh Ritual, cross-shaped hair ornaments as Sündenjäger, and a purple ribbon at the end of her braid as Sixth Serenade.
    • Liliya has a blue ribbon underneath her horn, while Roza has a pink ribbon underneath hers. They also have different hair ornaments at the opposite side of their horns.
    • Seele as Swallowtail Phantasm has a unique black-and-white one at the left side of her head, which also constantly emits blue flames. As Stygian Nymph, she has a white Flower In Her Hair that turns black and red and moves to the other side of her head when she becomes "Dark Seele".

Question guys: The fact that "World Serpent exists" isn't exactly a spoiler, right?

Asking this before I'm making fixes to the inconsistent spoilers

I was going to add the following example:

  • Nobody Poops: The one time bodily functions show up in-game is during the "St. Freya Fiesta" event. In one of the interactive stages, the Captain encounters Overseer Otto while waiting on Theresa to come back from the ladies' room, and has to choose how to handle Otto asking about Theresa.

...but since I've only been playing for about 6 months now, I wasn't sure how accurate this was overall for the game.

It's indeed event-limited.

Are you talking about my edit? For that case, I simply don't think the "discontinued" part is relevant.

It's relevant to the way the entry is currently worded since it talks about when certain ones were available. I'll take a stab at rewording the example.

Regarding the last edit: the Standard, Focused, and Expansion gachas either take Crystals or Supply Cards; that's what I was getting at with that edit. Not sure what's being referenced by the coupons, I did a search and the only thing with that name are the coupons you spend to get outfits.

You know, I honestly can't remember if I saw that and was going to take it out when I put in the statement I did or if I just glossed over it...more likely the latter. The redundancy of having it noted for both entries is still bugging me...I may take another stab at it later.
