I'm just wondering exactly where the information that the main characters are called "Jacob" and "Lisa" comes from. The page currently credits the manual, but... do arcade games actually have manuals? I notice that some sites, including Wikipedia, actually have physical descriptions of the two characters - when I don't believe that we see more than their hands in-game.
Is this just fanon that ran rampant?
Edited by 194.83.56.158 Hide / Show RepliesGood to see I'm not the only one doubting this. I'm positive it's fanon. The game DOES have a manual: http://www.arcade-museum.com/manuals-videogames/C/CarnEvil_2Player_Dedicated_25in_1640069101_Nov_1998.pdf
However, the names Jacob and Lisa are nowhere to be found...in fact, no names for the protagonists are given AT ALL.
Did some research. When the Wikipedia page was started in 2005, the protagonist was indeed unnamed. The names Jacob and Lisa were added to Wikipedia by an anonymous editor in July 2007, without a source. (That person gave the name Lisa to the innocent bystander, when her actual name is Betty. The Carn Evil site confirms it.) Somehow, instead of getting corrected, other editors just ran with it and added their own fanon stuff.
So now the issue is editing all the pages...and keeping the fanon out. Since this has been taken as truth for seven years, this may prove very difficult. :P

I think we should use a different image than the one added. there's plenty that could be used.
