Removed tropes and drastically edited several entries, explanations since sometimes people take it personally.
- Action Mom: There are none in the game, it belongs as much as...Standard FPS Guns.
- Five-Man Band: Five characters=/=Five-Man Band. It's a huge stretch.
- Hazardous Water: Assimilated into Super Drowning Skills, the correct trope. Compare them.
- It Will Never Catch On: Monday Night Combat isn't even partially RTS, hence its removal from the entry.
- Our Demons Are Different: Wrong trope regarding humans, that's Humans Through Alien Eyes. Which doesn't really apply here.
- Ink-Suit Actor: Robert Smith has nothing to do with the game so the DD Grave Diggers looking like him doesn't apply(Captain Ersatz), shoutouts shouldn't be there.
- Precision F-Strike: Sophisticated as Hell
- Puzzle Boss: Looked too much like Natter, rewritten.
- Spoony Bard: Nope.
- Take It to the Bridge: The trope is objective, the entry is subjective. There's a bridge, but how much fighting occurs on it depends on the player and more importantly; you can't actually duel in the middle of two armies clashing for the most part.
Okay, tropes that didn't fit the [[Characters/Ptitle4w46reyn Characters page]]:
- The '80s / The '70s: It actually has nothing to do with Ironheade, even if a lot of "their" music is from it.
- Thrash Metal: Same.
- Axe-Crazy: Using an axe is An Axe To Grind. Axe-Crazy require homicidal rampages, which is a huge stretch for Eddie since his is justified. Defense=/=homicide
- Jack Attack: Applies to characters, not actors.
- Jack Black: People aren't tropes and it already lists him as VA at the top of Eddie's entry.
- Kill Em All: The trope isn't about things that are said...Read the page please :|
- Marty Stu: Regarding Sueness, only Canon Sue should be listed for anything.
- The Only One: Duplicate.
- Jennifer Hale: Yeah...
- Leather Man: It's a homosexual trope and there's only one scene even loosely presenting his sexuality...Except it's entendre and actually Eddie's sexuality in question in the scene.
- Kath Soucie: ...
- Precision F-Strike: Different case than for the main article, but...Nope.
- Arrows on Fire: No arrows, so...
- Motorhead: Ironheade isn't Motorhead, even if they do share the same final syllable...
- Judas Priest: Are we sensing a pattern here?
- Wave-Motion Gun: Taking awhile to do a solo that is powerful doesn't really make it one. Trope Decay shouldn't be enhanced, should it? I don't know.
- Word of God: Trivia under the Rima/Zaulia/Metalbeast entry. Belongs on a trivia page.
- Industrial Metal: ...
- Expy: The entry for Doviculus regarding Stratos of Sacrifice is trivia. Unless Doviculus also happens to be an expy of Stratos, which I'm unaware of due to not having played Sacrifice. If this is wrong, just put it back in :P [[hottip:removed text:
- Special mention needs to go to Stratos of {{Sacrifice.}} Tim Curry once again plays a leader of a faction from a game of the exact same genre as Brutal Legend without Tim Schafer even realizing it.]] If it's put back in though, please do rewrite it so it doesn't sound like trivia.
- Tim Curry: Left this one in since, well, yeah. Doviculus is an amalgamated personification of pretty much every role the guy has ever had that gained any notoriety.
- Hate Plague: Removed from Hate Cage entry since...There's no plague. Plaguemaster could work for this, but I feel it's a bit too much of a stretch and won't be adding it. Add it yourself if you feel it fits; I don't think I'm any kind of authority on subjectivity.
- Humongous Mecha: There are no mecha in Brutal Legend. Mecha are robots, not demons. Overlap is possible with the two, but there just aren't any in Brutal Legend.
- Dr Feel Good: The pattern continues.
note on Battle Nun: Can't recall who the VA is, so it's blank. Better than saying a dude voiced her, right?!?
Yet, still...Just thought I'd add that Mary Sue of any type is not supposed to be on a work or character page. It could show up on a YMMV page.
Not even when Sueness is part of the characterization? Drifting a bit off-topic, I know, but I can think of at least one character where Sueness is a huge aspect of their characterization(Zhuge Liang / Kongming in Romance Of The Three Kingdoms: the original Mary Tzu). My curiosity is biting at me :3
Yet, still...I felt there were a few moved entries that needed to be deleted outright. People seem to think the common criticisms of the game are more shallow than they really are. For the single player campaign, it's not just that it's short, it's badly paced as well. If it was short without feeling rushed, it probably would've gone down better. The stage battles also received criticism not just for being RTS, but also because some people didn't think they were well-designed. It's tricky to do RTS on consoles, and numerous reviews felt that Double Fine wasn't up to the task.
On a related note, to my knowledge the reason EA hid the multiplayer is because a lot of people don't enjoy the RTS genre. They should've been honest, but I'm not convinced that sales would've been better if they had been.
Edited by AustinThat's the right call. Gushing and take thats at critics don't belong on the page any more than complaining and take thats at fans.
I'm in agreement. I decided to just move the whining and complaining bits instead of deleting it outright because I knew it was added there in the first place by fanatics: if it was completely removed they'd just put it back in the main article again and again, taking the removal of it as some sort of personal attack against their opinions. I figured it's a stupid thing to bog down a main article with rants and it'd be just as stupid to end up getting the article locked or the responsible parties banned, so a compromise that would (hopefully)let the Vocal Minority learn from their mistakes sounded better to me.
But now it seems like maybe, just maybe the Vocal Minority has learned a bit. At least I hope so :3
Yet, still...Yeah, there needs to be a lot cut on the description. It goes into far too much detail, and it seems like it's less about the game and more bashing Electronic Arts. The whole page has a problem with bashing EA, and insulting those who think the single player campaign should've been more than just an extended tutorial.
Edited by Austin Hide / Show RepliesI'll see if I can pretty it up a little bit after some other crap I'm editing in it :3
Yet, still...
It's been mentioned that the game had mixed reviews, but considering that it has a Metacritic score over 80, That doesn't seem all that mixed. Not universal praise, but definitely not mixed either.
Here's the link.
