I just had an odd thought. IRL, the term "ace" is used to describe a pilot who destroys at least five enemy aircraft over the course of his career. I imagine that most stages in this series have more than five enemies in them.

Eric Hartmann, acknowledged as the greatest flying ace of all time - "the ace of ace of aces" - is credited with 352 victories. So... exactly how many planes does the player destroy in each game?

A ton. It's a major case of Gameplay and Story Segregation in this series.
