Rasputin was reputed for his alcoholism and promiscuity, and the popular perception of him was that he was a charlatan and conman who exploited a child's illness for his own benefit to gain power over the royal family. His true intentions are obviously up for debate, but his influence changed the Romanovs' lives for the worse, not better.

Why is he constantly protrayed as evil. This page doesn't really mention why he's considered evil, from what I've read he seems like a fine guy
