It seems like the third act is a bit overrepresented in the number of tropes. Which is kind of interesting; I wonder if it's this site, or literature, that doesn't have a lot of codification for the sorts of events in the first two acts.

That tends to happen in all media. Neon Genesis Evangelion wasn't the bleak Mind Screw everyone knows it to be until the last few episodes, but that's all you hear about.

What I'm wondering is how in the hell nobody else noticed that the third act is one hell of a Gainax Ending. There's a reason it's the most memorable part of the play.
