Anyone else having trouble editing this page? I've tried to save an edit to it five times in the last few hours and it hasn't shown up yet. If it has to do with the page's size, maybe it should be split up by genre or something?
Edited by MightyFavog Hide / Show RepliesYeah, I'm having trouble too. And the really funny thing is that the edits are shown when you click on the "page history" button, so you can see that they _did_ take...sorta.
I can't get my edit saved, either. I'm just trying to make people feel better about "Space Doggity!"
I think it's like the Mass Effect problem - there are so many examples that it's breaking the wiki. This page needs to be split into genres, each with its own page.
Well, let this be a lesson to me about not reading the discussion before I retry a failed edit. I agree, split the page.
Edited by apocalemurEdited things down a little.
I believe we have a firm case for a Tori Amos page in this index. And one for Martina McBride. Perhaps Anathema as well.
There is a fine line between recklessness and courage — Paul McCartneyI think we need more pages. I can't edit it with my editing so I'll save it here till we get fixed:
- This troper thinks "In Another Life" by The Veronicas is the most heart-breaking song ever. It breaks me into peices playing it just once a day. It breaks my heart to even type out or read the lyrics, Here's the chorus:
You know I love youYou know I doI just can't, fightAnymore for youAnd I don't know, maybe we'll be together againSometime, in another lifeIn another life
Apparently this isn't the only section that has this problem; the Wall Banger page is doing the same thing.
Combined the Queen, Foo Fighters, Harry Chapin, and Simon and Garfunkel sections (there were two of each) into one.
Guess my edits didn't show up. I think Queen could use their own page, and probably also Simon and Garfunkel.
ETA: Okay, I finally got the edits to show up. Now, off to remove the double spaces after the bullets - as they serve no real function.
Edited by movie007I think Country Music and Classical Music should probably get their own pages.
Finally moved Country Music and Classical Music to their own pages, and successfully added on previous update attempts.
Also added new page for Music In Media. May need to be re-named - but, for now, it cuts down the length of this page. People should now be able to add new examples to this page without trouble.
Edited by movie007I'm having trouble too. I made a new page for Akiko Shikata, and I can't add it.
This might be personal bias talking, but I think it's high time TMBG got their own page—they've got three songs listed already, and I can think of several more off the top of my head that would deserve to be there...any thoughts?
I would like to nominate this song, if not for this trope, at least for Lyrical Dissonance.
Edited by StoogebieI have pages now for Pop Music and Rock Music, as well as pages for various bands/artists that have gotten quite long. I am over halfway done with sorting the entries on the main Music in alphabetical order.
We might have enough entries to warrant a Hip Hop page, but I'm not very knowledgeable in that genre. We could maybe also use a Traditional Songs page - which could include patriotic songs, church songs, old folk songs, amongst others.
We might also have enough to split Heavy Metal from Rock Music.
There are probably quite a few pop and rock music examples still on this page, but anyone who's more knowledgeable on the bands/artists in question are free to move them over.
So, that's that.
Edited by movie007 Hide / Show RepliesI know this is not Wikipedia, and There Is No Such Thing As Notability - but I'm wondering if this entry should really be included:
- This troper's choir's accompianist wrote "Uniamo in Amore," a love song dedicated to his wife. It's been performed in public 3 times by our chamber choir, and it's brought people to tears every time.
Someone had done the first person zap with the Classical Music page, and then someone else had done that with the U2 page - so I decided to follow suit, and start doing that with the rest. I'm all done doing that with the Rock Music page - and the artist pages recently separated from that (Alice in Chains, Dream Theater, Garbage, Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Pearl Jam, and Bruce Springsteen) are also free of the first person stuff.
I figured that, ideally, people would like these pages to be free of that stuff - but I'm not sure whether or not the entry should be here or not. I did remove it, for now.
Edited by movie007Also, should this page be made into an index of it's own - as with Anime, Literature, and Video Games?
I'm tempted to just do it, but I figure I should probably first see what some of the others say.
Edited by movie007Someone else has already started a Trope Repair nomination for the main Tear Jerker page, so I decided to just make this page an index.
Is it possible to organize this list based upon genre? For example, one dropdown would have pop and another would have metal.

I can't seem to add my new Akiko Shikata page to this index. Help, please?
