Hello. I have a couple of questions as someone who doesn't trope often 1. This article should be updated to include Nocturne and Renaissance (when the latter is released.

2. Does [[Abandoned Mine]] apply to the Ruins card of the same name?

3. Since Nocturne has more of a focus on mysticism and fantastical creatures (i.e. Bard, Druid, Vampire, Zombies), does it count as an Acceptable Break from Canon (Technically, the fan-expansion "Fairy Tales" did it first, but Nocturne is an official expansion)?

I'm just now looking through tropes, and I'll see if there's anything else that might fit into these categories...

Someone deleted the Genre Launch trope off the main page, but I haven't encountered any deckbuilding games older than this one- if anyone would like to back up this delete please do

Cut content;

  • Sequel Escalation: Each expansion escalates one aspect or another;
    • Intrigue is a full playable game, not just an expansion, but can be combined with the base game to allow more people to play. It focuses on giving a player choice in what a card will do.
    • Seaside focuses on persistent effects, either through Duration cards that last until a player's next turn, or non-card "mats" that interact with certain cards.
    • Alchemy, a half size expansion, has a new Treasure card (Potion), and focuses on Action chaining.
    • Prosperity focuses on big money, adding a new Treasure card (Platinum, worth 5 coins) a new victory point card (Colony, costing 11 coins but worth 10 victory points), and bigger (and more expensive) Action cards, including some that are bigger, stronger versions of earlier cards. It also adds shield tokens, which act as victory points but go on a mat outside of your deck.
    • Cornucopia, another half expansion, focuses on diversity, rewarding a player for having many different named cards in the deck, and features the Tournament below (which allows access to five unique cards, reinforcing the variety theme).
    • Hinterlands focuses on reactions to gaining a card, with many cards having an effect that takes place immediately when you buy them.
    • Dark Ages, the biggest set so far, has plenty of cards that focus on the trash in ways like taking from the trash, counting the trash, and effects that happen upon trashing. It also has Knights, which is a pile of 10 different cards, and Ruins, which are like curses, but they are actually actions, although extremely weak. It also has a new card type (Shelters) that can replace the starting Estates every player has.

After talking to the editor who removed it I have replaced Sequel Escalation in truncated form. We disagreed about how broad the trope is (does it apply solely to expanding and enlargening existing mechanics, or does it also account for new mechanics as well?). The trope page has examples of both on it, but I'm not in the mood to start a flame war.

Any opinions for either side are welcome
