As a guy who hasn't played the game (but would like too), I would like to know if there is a way to regain Sanity.

I don't think so.

Take your time and relax

Bricks.

...Okay, I have to go into the game with some guaranteed way of winning/destroying the Elder Gods. There has to be a way to combat sanity loss. That's the main obstacle (that and the sheer difference in power, but one step at a time).

You can regain sanity points if you accomplish something, like beating a mythos creature or getting a skill to above 90%.

Though I don't think you'll be able to destroy the Elder Gods, since they are practically invincible.

You normally regain some sanity when you complete a scenario. Up to a certain point psychiatry works, too.

^^COOL. I can totally do that. *prepares munchkin strategy*

According to what I've read, the Elder Gods do have stats. That makes them killable...you just have to get to their power level. (Though getting up to their power level and remaining completely sane would be a serious challenge).

^Another thing I can do...and they have therapists?

A. I think you are talking about the great old ones, not elder gods.

B. Hockey rink full of explosives directly after summoning = dead.

^^^ According to the rules you can't permanently kill Cthulhu Mythos deities by inflicting more Hit Points of damage than the deity has.

"Gods cannot be truly slain, though they have hit points. If an Outer God, Elder God, or Great Old One is somehow reduced to 0 or negative hit points, the thing is dispelled or forced back whence it came. Mere damage will not destroy or even harm these powers. If they are forced or persuaded to leave, they can return."

Deleted the following Natter from the Go Mad from the Revelation entry. Remember, Repair Dont Respond.

  • Well, while a perfect Mythos score is enough to leave you with zero Sanity, it does not mean you know all there is to know (that would still be kinda tempting). Just imagine trying to fill a glass of water (your mindful of sanity) with a truckload of sand. Horrifying, mind-shattering sand...
