I can't say I agree with the "Blown Across the Room" trope. If you watch the scene again, it's more like he just loses his balance and falls backwards. Kinda makes sense, no? It's pretty hard to get shot and stay on your feet. He's gotta fall one way or the other, and just because he fell backwards doesn't mean the shot actually blew him out the window.
