It has been well-documented that "Tin-Tin," is similar to the Malaysian word for, "sweet," thus basing her name on an existing word, making the entry to be speculation at best, lying at worst.

That sounds backwards. It seems like speculation that the name is based on an existing word, and that's used to justify using, well, not a name.
I mean, we'd consider a Japanese work naming an American character "Desktop" to be making up a foreign-sounding name even though it's a real English word.
Or another famous example is Cho Chang where her name actually is based upon two Chinese names... but done in a way that Chinese names don't actually work.

It says on the page that Tin-Tin is a made up name that sounds Asian. I'd like to mention that there was an episode of Paul Merton In India where he meets a father who has a son called "Tin-Tin" (then again, this was India, not Malaysia).
