Sounds like an Actor Allusion. Also, good catch, for some reason that didn't even occur to me even though I used to watch Night Court.
Tony says he can handle Wolf's case 'because he used to be a lawyer'. His actor, John Larroquette, played Dan Fielding, an assistant DA/prosecutor on Night Court. It adds a really funny layer to the scene. Parental Bonus, Shout Out, or something else?
