The series gleefully embraces Torture for Fun and Information, but this episode argues for treating even terrorists with dignity and kindness as a better way of getting information. Mc Garrett even protests the harsh interrogation tactics used against the terrorist, arguing that a man will admit anything if you hold his head underwater. The end has him giving water to the terrorist and empathizing with him because "we both came into this world the same way".
