Strikes me as that or What An Idiot - your reaction would certainly count as this.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman
Not sure which tropes go with this, but I found the Mexican Standoff (well, there's one anyway) irritating when Gwen decides not to shoot the bad cop in the head, but rather surrender her gun despite her clearly superior position.
If she'd shot the guy (and I have no reason to think she'd miss), he wouldn't have been able to shoot Owen - and even if he had shot Owen via muscle twitch or whatever while dying, Gwen could've shot the guy on the ground before he threatened her, then untied Toshiko, possibly still saved Owen if he'd gotten shot non-fatally, and then gone in to save the other captive.
Instead, surrender puts them all at the cruel mercy of a group of cannibals, in a situation in which many people have vanished and nobody has managed to learn anything about this case before (possibly due to crooked cop covering it up), so likely death. During that scene, I found myself repeatedly saying out loud "You're an utter moron who deserves to die."
...is that just Idiot Ball? The only reason they survived was Jack coming in blazing to save them all.
