Not sure about the trope. Related to Actor Allusion, I suppose. This wouldn't be the first time Moffat was involved in a BBC television story involving a suited genius antagonized by another suited genius, who uses a particular rhythm as part of a plan which involves ruining the first genius's life. Nor is it the first time Moffat was involved with a genius main character needing to fake his death in order to protect loved ones. Sounds a lot like the Series 3 and Series 6 finales of New Who.
