The Waif is definitely not blind. I've looked into why the page says that she is (I never saw any indication that she was blind while watching this episode) and discovered that some people seemed to think that her facial expressions indicated blindness. Reading the talk page for the Waif on the Go T wiki, they did indeed think this at first, but decided it was a misconception. It's extremely clear in later episodes, particularly "No One", that she is most certainly NOT blind and in fact at a disadvantage when the lights go out.

Moving this to Discussion:

  • Adaptation Personality Change:
    • Ramsay is able to have an amicable conversation with a highborn lord, in this case Littlefinger, swears he'll never hurt Sansa to get in Littlefinger's good books, and humbly mentions his origins as a bastard. In the books, Ramsay has No Social Skills, antagonizes almost everyone he comes into contact with, and never gave a damn what people thought about how he treated his women. Also, talking about his bastardy was book!Ramsay's Berserk Button.
    • The Waif in the House of Black and White also doesn't bully Arya in the books, instead being relatively friendly to her.

I have objections to both parts:

In terms of Ramsay, he's definitely a smarter, more affable character on the show- but that's a change true throughout, not just with this episode. Moreover, as shown by his playing Reek in the books, book!Ramsay is perfectly capable of pretending to be humble and manipulating other people to trust and somewhat like him- although of course he "revenges" himself on Theon afterward. Now once Ramsay is legitimized in the books, he does show the Berserk Button mentioned- but IMO, that felt like flanderization to me because of his previous behavior (of course, Sanity Has Advantages).

As for the Waif, in the books, there is a scene where as part of Arya's training, they play the "lying game" and just like the show, the Waif repeatedly slaps Arya. I guess it's somewhat more antagonistic in the show and less clearly training (although IMO I think Jaqen was definitely in on it), but I don't think it's a huge difference, especially because the Waif might be given more personality in subsequent episodes.

Ramsey's bit does seem like severe nitpicking.

Yeah. To put it more concisely, if Ramsay was actually sincere, that would be a change, but there's nothing inherently out-of-character to have Ramsay pretending to be a normal person.
