For the record, the official website confirms Stannis, Myrcella, and Jon as dead.
Ceterum censeo Morbillivirum esse eradicandum. Hide / Show RepliesJon's definitely dead, but he probably won't stay dead, given Mel's proximity...
The rest... yeah, prolly dead.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.A lot of people are adding Stannis Baratheon to Asshole Victim. One, the usual use of the trope is that when the person dies, people don't feel bad. The way the scene is shot, with Stannis getting a Face Death with Dignity line, we are meant to feel bad for him. Furthermore, David Benioff himself confirmed that this is an Intended Reaction. To quote David Benioff in Inside the Episode [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHMuqH7yOQc], Brienne killing Stannis is not intended to be an Asshole Victim, Stannis he says is brave and has good qualities even if he does monstrous things and Stannis sees death as a relief, so not this trope at all.
Could I get some help in starting a more neutral rewrite of this recap going? The amount of snark, attempts at "biting" humor, and dumb labeling (Stannis a "false prophet"? Huh?) really take away from the recap. I think a straight synopsis would speak to the episode's strengths and weaknesses on its own.
