I pulled this from the entry about River having met all the past Doctors:
- and even the Tenth Doctor, before she technically meets him for the first/last time in "Silence in the Library"note
River must have met Tenth before this in her timeline; the whole point of their interaction in "Silence" is that she doesn't know it's their first meeting from his perspective. If she'd thought "Oh, it's the one I never met before, who came before the ones who knew who I was and after the ones who never found out. This must be it then." she wouldn't have needed to get the diary out.
Word of God probably backs this up: Steven Moffat said that there were three questions everyone would have after seeing the first few episodes (without saying what they were) and the answer to the third one was "Ah! Ah! But where in the episode does it say it’s the second time? No, see, it doesn’t. So nyer. In fact, the use of the word “keep” in scene 23 would suggest that it isn’t the second time." This is almost certainly a reference to the Doctor saying (on their second on screen meeting) that he and River "keep meeting in the wrong order".
Edited by DaibhidC Hide / Show RepliesHmm, that seems important/relevant enough to warrant mention on the page, but I can't think just now where or how to fit it in....anyone else?
Hiya, made an account just to add a trope to this page:
Refuge in Audacity. When it is revealed that the buyer River has set up for the diamond (which is still in King Hydroflax's head) is in fact doing this in honour of King Hydroflax, and that they are surrounded by his devout followers, the Doctor steps in to reveal the head while loudly lamenting the "tragedy" of his decapitation, and that this can only be properly respected by ... converting the sale to an _auction_. One of the followers even bids surreptitiously!
Don't care if someone goes ahead and posts this before I get editing privileges. Comments?
