In 2017, the founder and chief archivist of the Walt Disney Archives — Dave Smith — would showcase an official timeline of Disney's films during a private screening of Tangled on the Walt Disney Studios lot.
Apparently, this is how Disney officially categorizes their films:
- 1937-1942: The Golden Age
- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
- Pinocchio
- Fantasia
- Dumbo
- Bambi
- 1943-1949: War and Reinvention
- Saludos Amigos
- The Three Caballeros
- Make Mine Music
- Fun and Fancy Free
- Melody Time
- The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
- 1950-1967: The Silver Age
- Cinderella
- Alice in Wonderland
- Peter Pan
- Lady and the Tramp
- Sleeping Beauty
- 101 Dalmatians
- The Sword in the Stone
- The Jungle Book
- 1970-1988: The Changing of the Guard
- The Aristocats
- Robin Hood
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- The Rescuers
- The Fox and the Hound
- The Black Cauldron
- The Great Mouse Detective
- Oliver & Company
- 1989-1994: The Second Golden Age
- The Little Mermaid
- The Rescuers Down Under
- Beauty and the Beast
- Aladdin
- The Lion King
- 1995-1999: Renewal & Regeneration
- Pocahontas
- The Hunchback of Notre Dame
- Hercules
- Mulan
- Tarzan
- Fantasia 2000
- 2000-2004: Explorations
- Dinosaur
- The Emperor's New Groove
- Atlantis: The Lost Empire
- Lilo & Stitch
- Treasure Planet
- Brother Bear
- Home on the Range
- 2005-2008: The Computer Age
- Chicken Little
- Meet the Robinsons
- Bolt
- 2009-Now : The Present Era
Given this is official, will it be a good idea to bring light to this on the recap pages? If not re-categorize them to reflect this.
Edited by Tylerbear12Wikipedia says that Winnie the Pooh (2011) is a minute shorter than Dumbo. Shouldn't that be listed as the shortest single-story film?
No the location is not misspelledI still think we should list all the sequels by DisneyToon Studios if we're going to list the remakes.
I don't want to move too hastily, but the release and performance of Wish that Disney might be yet another new age. If Frozen 2 is the peak of the Revival, then I would put the cutoff before Raya and the Last Dragon.
It's time to face your fears
