To answer the question of whoever reverted my edit: Memorable quotes are... well, memorable. Iconic quotes — and there might be a better word for that — are ones that provide a picture of the work as a whole, with the most obvious examples remaining on the main page. As I understand it, that's what the Quotes page is nominally meant for around here. This isn't Wikipedia, to be sure, but it also isn't Wikiquote, yet this page seems to have become a place for quotes that a given editor saw recently (it's gotten pretty front-heavy) and thought were funny.
