Name order needs to be fixed ASAP. I think I'll start now.
Hide / Show RepliesThere are a LOT of examples in the Nightmare Fuel section of the page. Is that enough reason to splinter it into a Nightmare Fuel page for Vocaloid?
Please consider supporting my artwork on Patreon Hide / Show RepliesCould be. Vocaloid has more than enough Nightmare Fuel for its own page.
I've returned from the depths to continue politely irritating the good people of TV Tropes.(◕‿◕✿)This page has some problems with Zero Context Examples and needs a cleanup. I'm going to comment them out.
Also, this page as a whole needs work, but I'd like to start with fixing the problems on the main (Music) page.
Could someone that knows this topic better than me help out?
Edited by 98.169.197.142Geez, I know the page was a bit long in the tooth. But pretty much everything having to do with non-Crypton Vocaloids is gone! What happened?
Given the complexity of the Kagerou Project and the fact that it will be made into a manga soon, is it deserving of its own page? Considering it's a full fledged series at this point...
Hide / Show RepliesI think so. It's only relation to Vocaloid is the fact Miku and IA are the singers.
This page needs serious revision. As Vocaloid develops the state of this page is almost... pitifully outdated and kind of spreading a lot of things that aren't even things anymore.
Mainly the fact a huge number of fandom taboos are being violated; producers not being properly credited, the creed of "no canon" only being stapled to the very bottom of the page, the header image being incredibly outdated.
Since I'm kind of peeved about this, and in succession managed to peeve a few friends about it, I'm going to begin humbly revising a lot of this page in order to make it more cohesive and relevant to its actual state.
While fanon isn't exactly bad, it's important to actually recognize that is fanon. These aren't characters, these are avatars. You can't cite tropes the same way as you would on other pages.
I mean, you're trying to find the tropes that hundreds of artists are creating every day and it's just NOT WORKING.
It's going to be a bit radical but, seriously, this is not representing Vocaloid well at all.
Hide / Show RepliesI wholeheartedly agree that this page needs to be stripped down & rewritten from the ground up, in order to make a better impression on Vocaloid itself as well as its fandom.
I will also taking place in editing this article. This article is way too far behind the times.
There is a thread here to try and improve this article. Any feedback would help.
Perhaps we could have two seperate pages, one for the actual Vocaloid, and another for all of the fanon. I mean, there is a lot of notable fanon so...I don't know, would that work? I'm just tossing around ideas, really.
oh, nevermind! There's already a page for that, sorry.
Edited by MysticSongbirdShould all of the WMG for songs made by mothy be moved to his page? I understand that people may not realize there is one; maybe a note saying something like "WMG concerning songs by mothy should be directed to his page" with a link.
Is this an example?
- Adorably Precocious Child:
- Len is considered to be this, even though he's 14; he shows his anger at this in Gekokujou, and celebrates it in Shotacon Genocide.
- On the other side of the Pacific, we have Oliver, a 12 year old voiced by an actual little boy.
These pictures are aging quickly. May I suggest replasing them with http://kawaiibunny3.deviantart.com/art/Vocaloid-Parade-267860330
Hi everyone, I was reading over the page and, uh, adding bits all over the place, and I wasn't quite sure about how to keep everything consistent. So I figured I'd ask here.
When citing song titles, is the general rule to italicize if not including a link? Do we use the romanized title or the translated, or whichever is most popular? In popular series, do we include fan-made songs as canon as well? (mostly looking at the Story of Evil and its plethora of non-Mothy/Akuno-p variations, here) We have a lot of trope examples, should we start creating their own /trope/Vocaloid pages? If we're putting Vocaloid as an example elsewhere, does it go under Music or Web Original?
.. Yeeeah I think that was it. I love this fandom because it's continually growing, but at the same time all the variety is.. a bit unmanageable, sometimes. orz Kind of a noob to editing, still, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.
Hide / Show RepliesI think making a TV Tropes list of all the songs is an impossible task due to said spontaneity of content. For example, a troper could literally make a song and publish it just to fill a trope.
Oh, yes, it's definitely an impractical idea. I just figured, since it's such a good resource for finding interesting songs, that it might be good to throw in at least the well-known ranking-toppers, and such.. orz there's so many of them
Mostly it's for the sake of my inner nitpicker though, haha.
I've edited out the "hologram" claims here. Sorry but this is not holography, nor holograms, nor holo-anything. The technology does not exist to make such complex, full-motion, full-color holograms appear in free space. It's just a movie rear-projected onto a nearly-transparent screen. Granted the movie uses "3D" animation (shadow-shading) techniques but that doesn't make it a hologram, any more than was Batman: The Animated Series.
In some of the videos on You Tube you can clearly see the top edge of the screen; reflections of the audiences' glowsticks are visible in many more shots; the light from the projector is clearly visible, esp. directly behind the figure; in the scenes with two characters the two beams from the projector are clearly visible... and in the few angle shots they permit to show the figure is clearly trapped in the plane of the screen.
The real story here is the Vocaloid software, and the fact that apparently tens of thousands of people are paying about $50 each to go to "live" concert and cheer for what amounts to a cartoon.
Edited by Sullivan Hide / Show RepliesYou are Completely Missing The Point. It is 'live', and $50 is the average for many concerts, especially for old bands. Yes it is hologram-projected, though slightly primitive, but it is better than what just about anyone else has come up with. Besides, it was a very good demonstration of the future of tech.
Until death do we partYes, it should, especially since it already has its own WMG. If no-one has any objections I'd be more than happy to make the page myself.
...in bed.It has been a few weeks now, so I guess it's fine to move the UTAU info to a new page.
Um, don't mean to be a bother but, can we get a picture with ALL the vocaloids? You know including the English ones?
Hide / Show RepliesIt might be a bit hard to include the English ones since not all of them have official art or an agreed fanon depiction.
It'll be especially difficult with the whole Lola debate; there are three most common depictions of her, and it's not like anyone wars over it, but it'll definitely bug some people if you use the 'wrong Lola'. I'd say we could more or less try and get two images, one for the Japanese and one for the English, and make a hottip explaining Lola's ambiguity.
Updated the JP vocaloid picture (basically just an addition with Gumi). Disappointed I couldn't find one with Yuki/Kiyoteru/Miki, but everything else was huge and would require massive resizing to the point of not being able to make out anyone. If anyone can find an adequate one with Meiko/Kaito/Miku/Rin/Len/Luka/Gakupo/Gumi/Yuki/Kiyoteru/Miki then you are awesomesauce.
I did however, manage to find one with all of the English ones.◊ The only problem is that it's a bit anime-ish, and Big-Al and Sweet Ann's appearances are changed a tad. Like I said, though. It's the only one I could find of all of them together. Shall we use it?
Edited by NoirTheExecutionerI suppose we could use that, yes. Just remember to add a hottip to the caption explaining anything you need to explain, like Big Al being inaccurate or the Lola Debate.
I think there should also be a caption explaining Miriam's design too. There are quite a few fans who aren't fond of Moe!Miriam. The Sonika design in the picture is her Twitter account design. Lola's eye color is wrong in the picture. (It's usually pink.) And that Leon design isn't the most popular. Clothing wise anyway. His most popular design has just a simple long sleeved blue shirt with black pants.http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§ion=&q=vocaloid+leon#/d202ggi Sweet Ann's off a bit too. Skin wise. @Noir The Executioner That pictures missing Tonio. And I will look for a picture with almost all the Japanese Vocaloids. I'm also going to search for a picture with all of the Engloids.
Damn I forgot. Anywho, I found one Engloid group picture that included Tonio. http://ballisticbaroque.deviantart.com/art/B-Day-Sonika-171306857?q=boost%3Apopular+sonika+birthday&qo=1 Unfortunantly it's a Sonika birthday picture. :/ And I had found a picture that included Miki, Kiyoteru, and Yuki. But the link broke.
What about this? http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/750382 It even has Mizki, Iroha, and a few of the Utauloids, haha.
Only issue is that it also includes the Voiceroids. I think the major issue with this kind of picture is that it needs to change every time a new Vocaloid gets released.
The Tear Jerker entry for this page is MASSIVE. We need to split it, stat.
Please consider supporting my artwork on Patreon Hide / Show RepliesShould series' of songs (like Daughter of Evil) be able to be splintered into their own pages?
Hide / Show RepliesPossibly. It could lighten the load on the main page. I don't know what the reaction would be, but I support the idea fully.
I've returned from the depths to continue politely irritating the good people of TV Tropes.(◕‿◕✿)Or they could be soft-split, like the page for Lady Gaga - have a folder for general tropes and songs that aren't part of a series, and put a folder after for each series.
I think splitting the series' into their own pages should work, and for the lesser-known series they can stay in a 'series' folder until they get enough examples pertaining to them that they can be split again, and so on.

Apparently this has been brought up in the past, but permission to add a seperate Fanon page for Vocaloid? I've been in this fandom since 2009, and while naturally every interpretation of each character is its own, I notice certain headcanons/interpretations tend to share common tropes (like depicting Yukari as a Gamer Chick due to one of her songs). I also don't want to mislead anyone by putting any particular tropes related to such things on the character page. Any objections?
