From the Edit History: Lord of the Flies was in fact written to be taught—the author was a teacher who wanted the "perfectly teachable book"

So, this gory saga of murder and savagery really WAS written for kids?!

I tried adding a section for music commonly studied in schools and it got deleted... Why?

If I could just add to that, historically, kids have ended up learning and performing a lot of the same songs for their preschool through high school graduation ceremonies. Should there be a section for those, too?

This list is a rather extreme version of Eagleland Osmosis. Should this be split up into several pages, or should people add new sections for their countries?

No. A lot of this stuff is used internationally, especially works by authors like Dickens and Shakespeare. If anything, a case can be made for dividing some of the literary examples by originating language, as it's the language that gets most of the points across.
