Plus, (in point 2) she mentions that she wanted to go to the same middle school as Tanaka.
I have a vague feeling since Episode 2 that Ota is Bino's own Author Avatar—it started from the fact that Bino mentioned on Volume 1's epilogue that she likes to lie while not drawing, but may have gained steam as it seem, despite her art has steadily improved throughout the series, it seems she still can't draw human bodies properly. But even that is pretty weak evidence of an Author Avatar.
But then, did I construe that trope a bit too strictly?
Scientia et Libertas | Per Aspera ad Astra Nova Hide / Show RepliesIt does seem a little stretchy. Unless there is official confirmation, I would leave it alone.
Not to say that it is not a good assumption, but maybe later Bino may confirm it.
I think we need a consistent way to refer to the characters. It seems every character are being referred by both their given names and their nicknames throughout these articles, with "Tanaka" being also used on Nozomu "Baka" Tanaka.
I have no preference on this, so you have have you opinion on this.
Scientia et Libertas | Per Aspera ad Astra Nova Hide / Show RepliesI agree with you, but the task at hand might be somewhat murky:
How often are the characters referred to by either name or nickname? I personally do not remember... All I can say is that, if I am not mistaken, it bounces between either/or.
For instance, Loli is referred to as such like 90% of the time instead of Saku (and I remember at least one instance of her being called Momoi), but Tanaka is referred to by her family name most of the time.
The series itself seems to have no consensus...

I mentioned on the Ho Yay page that Hime and Baka separated for about 4 years because:
- Assuming neither of them held back a grade, Baka is a year older than Hime.
- When Hime's father mentioned his moving plans, he said he will "time it so that we'll move once you get into middle school." That means Hime was still at elementary school at the time.
- This means Hime could only be a sixth grader during the flashback, and since she's now in the tenth grade, 4 years has passed.
