For the character Pages, there is a policy of removing the white out for spoilers on anything that is before the time skip. Should that be applied to the main tropes pages and all sub-pages?
Should Jimbei really be counted as one of the Strawhats right now? I mean, yes, he accepted the invite by Luffy. However, at the moment he is still with his previous crew getting as far as he can from Big Mom. Plus, he hasn't showed up as one of the strawhats in the full colour spreads yet.
I think until Jimbei is on the Sunny with the other Strawhats together and he gets a proper welcoming party, he shouldn't be counted as such. Give it a hundred chapters.
Hide / Show RepliesLuffy declared that he's Jimbei's captain, and Jimbei accepted that. That's good enough for me.
If Carrot joins the crew, then the Straw Hats have their Blond, Brunette, Redhead trio...
Hide / Show RepliesNot to mention Oda would have added Goku to the crew. How? Carrot=Kakarot=Son Goku. Also, she has a quasi-oozaru form where she becomes hot and kicks ass.
I have created a Call-Back page for One Piece at CallBack/OnePiece. I have moved the examples from the Tropes C-D section, and merged any unique ones from its original Call Back entry. Let's have some fun with this.
Edited by MacsenI realize that I might be one of very few persons, if not the only person, who feels this way, but isn't Princess Shirahoshi something of a Damsel Scrappy? And to me, the recent reveal that Shirahoshi is the latest incarnation of the Emphatic Weapon Poseidon has just made the series do the manga/anime equivalent of Jumping the Shark. Thoughts, anyone?
Hide / Show RepliesJump the shark implies the show or manga has changed dramatically in order to stay fresh. Considering there have been references to the polygraphs and the mysterious to the Void century, Shirahoshi's new powers aren't completely out of the blue.
As for being a Damsel Scrappy, No, I don't think she is trying to be a useful person in defending her country. It was just until recently no one had the strength to find Van Decker and get him to remove his target on her. She plays her part in getting Fishpeople and Merpeople accepting the Straw-hats as heroes. She carried Luffy into battle and helped bring about the end of the war.
Well, I guess I'm just angry at the number of insistent declarations that suggest she'll be the next new Straw Hat member, without taking any other suggestions into consideration (like Jinbe, for example), and without taking into consideration the reasons why she would not be an ideal crew member.
I actually don't think she will be. I think she will want to stay and help her mother's dream of bringing her people to the surface as accepted individuals. Much like how Vivi did not join to stay and help her people.
I would actually like for Shirahoshi to meet Vivi and realize they have something in coming.
The fandom gets into some pretty less than intelligent theories from time to time.
Some are still utterly convinced Perona or Bonney will somehow join the crew.
Since the live-action series has been announced, I think it should have it's own dedicated trope page when there are more details later on. The separate trope pages for this series will be a mess by that time. The page would be titled Series. One Piece. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.
Edited by gjjones He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself. So how much longer is the YMMV page going to be locked for? Hasn't everyone gotten over the Complete Monster edit wars by now?
RLLThe One Piece 101 links don't work unless you live in the US. Are you sure they are a good idea? It doesn't feel right if a page of TV Tropes is full of content that can't be seen by a big portion of the readers (even though most readers are probably American).
I'm going on a Weaboonese crackdown cause I'm starting to get sick of it.. If anybody dislikes it, feel free to speak up.
Try to please everyone who isn't going to whine about everything like a complete dickDoes anyone think we should add Grey-and-Gray Morality to the article? I feel it fits with the way the Marines and the World Government works and the general nature of the pirates.
This trope has been re-defined. I don't know whether this example is valid for the new definition. It may need rewording to show how it fits the new definition. If it's valid, please restore it here and on the trope page.
- Loads and Loads of Races: Humans, Giants, Merfolk, Fishmen, The Sky Peoples (Skypieans, Shandians, & Bilkans), Longarms & Longlegs, Snakenecks, Kuja, Minkmen, and Dwarves, at least (though some of the later ones might just be variants of human).
I'm a bit confused. Why does Zoro's page description refer to him as the first mate? Funimation's video claims that he is, but no one has ever once said that he is in the series proper. (I mean, he probably is, so maybe it's a moot point, but it's never actually been said.) Does that count as an official source when it's not actually verified within the series?
Bringing it to discussion first because I wanted to see other people's opinions instead of starting an edit war.
Would the infamous 4KidsEntertainment dub of One Piece count as a meta-example of In Medias Res, as it began airing during the start of the Mohji-Luffy fight, or in layman's terms, at the seventh episode of the series?
