This example was added by ~Raygunguy:

  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Early on, Dio is shown using a Purple Hermit-esque stand. However when we see what his actual stand is, it is completely different.

It was then deleted by ~Zuxtron with the edit reason:

This is explained in supplementary materials; the Hermit Purple-like Stand is actually Jonathan's Stand, which Dio has some control over due to possessing his body.

A justification that is All There in the Manual is not sufficient reason to delete the example entirely.

It isn't?

The way the example is written implies that Dio's Stand changing is a Retcon that causes a plot hole, when an explanation does exist. If Dio can control Jonathan's Stand, there's nothing weird about him using it, so it's not Early-Installment Weirdness.

No, it isn't. You don't get credit for what got left on the cutting-room floor: examples or deletions thereof need to stand on their own without needing to refer to another hypothetical page or elsewhere on the same page. Instead of simply deleting the example, you should have added this explanation onto it with a note explaining the source.

I just don't think it counts as "weirdness" if it doesn't actually contradict future information.

If you had to cite supplementary material to justify the character having a different superpower later than early, then it does.

Dio having Jonathan's body was already established at this time. This alone justifies him having multiple powers. The info book just confirmed that this explanation is correct.

If the manga explicitly stated that Hermit Purple 2 was Dio's Stand, then I would agree with the example counting. But it doesn't actually say that, so the example shouldn't say that it's Dio's Stand, or that his actual Stand being different is contradictory to this.
