  • Mixed Marriage: Mink's parents. Also Vina's parents, although her father didn't know at the time. In the manga, Pia's parents as well (her father is a dwarf).

The trope is now known as Maligned Mixed Marriage. Was the couple's interrracial relationship looked down upon in-universe?

Neither couple's marriage is actually looked down upon in-universe. That said, Mink's parents' marriage is a subversion. It first appears that the King vigorously objects to the fact that Royce ran off and married the dragon that Royce was originally sent to kill, and that the King wants to kill Royce for doing this. Then the subversion is revealed - the King is just hoping to marry Mink's mom once Royce is out of the picture.
