no, it's a stealth sequel. According to the author, It's set one year after the end of Shinakoi. Tsukuyo was a major last minute character in Shinakoi. The major antagonist of Shinakoi later appear in busou shoujo confirming this.And honestly, Shinakoi has a different feel, being more serious, more focus on martial arts including explorations of diferrent aspects of martial arts, not just about the fighting.
