I assume the apparent overspecifity is a bit accidental and they were trying for Example As Thesis but gave the wrong impression, due to the linkage to some other tropes not mentioned in the specific examples. Inserting a few adverbs can clear that up, that's not a call for a cut.
I also can not find anything similar, and feel quite certain that somewhere, the line from Aliens would have been given reference to it if it did exist.
