It's ominous that there are more aversions than examples being listed — and this isn't described as omnipresent. I suspect that the trope was only supposed to apply to player characters, so "you can stomp the crap out of enemies when they're down" wasn't supposed to be an aversion (and that's what many of the averted examples basically say).

I'm not even sure aversions should be listed here. Instead, I figure they should be moved to Kick Them While They Are Down, which would be played straight in that case.
Averted in Guild Wars - one of the most basic strategies for fighters is to knock down the opposing player and beat her senseless before she can get up again (she's prone). Needless to say she may be immediatly knocked down again without *any* temporal immunity. Especially nasty for healers if they don't bring any counters or learn to kite/shadow step the right way.
