I can't think of enough examples of the stock phrase occurring without the delayed attacks to make a split worthwhile. So far, there's only one example on the page of that, not enough to merit two different pages.
In order to justify a page split, there would have to be enough examples of the stock phrase occurring without the delayed attacks, AND is not better covered by other tropes like Dead All Along or Dead To Begin With. I just don't think there's enough to merit a whole new page.
Well, I have seen this trope being used to refer to situations where somebody is utterly screwed (and by screwed, I mean "about to die") with absolutely no way out, but hasn't actually been hit by the finishing blow yet. The Five Nights at Freddy's-related pages in particular are full of this sort of thing (power runs out before 5 A.M. or Bonnie or Chica enters your office in the first game, Puppet comes out of the music box or Balloon Boy disables your flashlight in the second game, Springtrap's at your door while the ventilation's failing in the third game, etc.). Do we have a trope for completely hopeless situations like that?
Edited by LuigifanShould this be added?
- Shin Megami Tensei Makes it really easy to die, specially because very common enemies can inflict Stone or otherwise instantly kill you with a skill. However Strange Journey makes it much worse by introducing a new status effect: Bomb. For a couple of turns, any physical hit dealt or taken by the afflicted character will result in them blowing up, causing heavy damage to everyone in the party in the process. Sadly, only enemies have access to this kind of skill and often target the MC with it.
Wagons East: During the gunfight at the end of the movie, Julian and Slade have a stand off during which Slade is shot but doesn't notice until Julian points it out to him. <— This is justified, as one doesn't always feel a bullet pass through them if it penetrates in and out of their body. In fact, even seasoned military operators pat themselves down after firefights to make sure they aren't bleeding.
I say we split the page into one about the stock phrase and another about delayed attacks.
