I removed a ''Warcraft III' example that had nothing to do with pillars, Illidan uses a very destructive spell that threatens the whole world but there is no mention of pillars of any sort.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.
