Regarding "The Smoke Ring": 1. Why wouldn't gravity collapse the gas ring into a gas giant? 2. Why wouldn't solar radiation blow the gas away?

why is edola listed under both world in the sky and floating continent?

Because people have trouble with the difference. Not being familiar with the work, I can't say which it's supposed to be, but Floating Continent is for a landmass that floats above an otherwise normal world, whereas World in the Sky is for when everything in the world floats or almost everything floats and the core/land is uninhabitable, unknown, or some such.
