Didn't do the example myself but its implied that the words were simply translated to English by Willow but the meaning of the words stayed the same. So the words did make the magic but the language didn't. This would stay an example if only Willow could cast the magic in the series (didn't watch Buffy). Does anyone know if that's true?
Not sure this really is a subversion — it's not a non-magical person making a spell work by aping the routine, or that subversions are worth noting. We've got Magical Incantation.
- Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Subverted — Willow begins to struggle through a complicated spell in Latin before saying "SCREW IT, I suck at Latin, OK?" and proceeded to make the spell work in English because she is just that Bad Ass at magic.
