I think this trope should be re-named "Batman Publicity."

Considering all the love and shilling he's getting from DC, all the while it happening to Wolverine is going down.

With 4700+ inbounds, almost certainly not going to happen. Besides, that is a bad reason to rename.

Hercules may have Wolverine Publicity to how Moderns sometimes view Greek Mythology (like Medusa) but not in the Ancient Greek literature itself.

Jason and the Argonauts was the ancient Greek equivalent to the JLA or The Avengers. Only Hercules and Jason may be recognizable names to the casual modern film audience, but in the actual mythology Jason was the only one Not previously established as a mythic Hero (He's perhaps the original Rookie Red Ranger). The fact that Hercules plays a fairly small role in the story is comparable to how DC used to Avert this by downplaying Superman and Batman's involvement in the JLA.

The statement about him being in nearly all plays is absurd, I own a collection of the 10 most significant surviving Eurpides plays, Hercules appears in only one. If anything it's Orestes who Euripides treated this way, or perhaps the Atreid dynasty as a whole.

There are a lot of examples here that are either simply not an example or they're the reverse.

Robin being in the Bat-titles and the Teen Titans in addition to his title for example is not this trope. He appears regularly in those titles and its a longstanding aspect of his character to be involved with the characters of those titles.

The example later with Damien Wayne is actually the inverse of the Wolverine Publicity marketing tactic. Sometimes the comics will promote a new character by having them appear in other characters titles. So Wolverine appearing in other people's titles is about using Wolverine's popularity to sell that title. Having Damien appear in other people's titles was about drawing the fans of those other titles into Damien's story.

I thought people used Cerberus for this as well.

With the power of a dragon I can make up for my inability to spill.
