Is there a reason why the publishing date is listed with so many of the literature examples in this trope?

I wish the Anime/Manga and Video Game sections did that. I specifically want to know how much Japan was already doing this before HP.

There was this comic book with Wizard School Abracadabra.

a) before Harry P b) real funny, any spell is likely to go wrong somewhere and a "muggler" neighbour house, wife always sees and husband never sees what is happening
