I feel like the trope description is missing the mark (or else we need a new trope for the concept I'm describing).

It's not "You can't benefit from your powers", it's "You must use your powers to help people." If you help people but also benefit yourself in the meantime, that's usually ok.

The origin of Spider-Man isn't trying to say that it's wrong to make money as a wrestler; they're saying that it's wrong to let a criminal get away when you could easily stop him.

Peter Parker benefits from his powers all the time. He makes money taking pictures of himself for the Daily Bugle. In the second Raimi film he uses his power to deliver pizzas super fast (though he gets sidetracked by kids in need of saving). There's never any suggestion that it's wrong for him to make money taking pictures or delivering pizzas. What would be wrong is if he quit the superhero business entirely, allowing crimes to occur even though he could have prevented them. The only thing that (briefly) saves him from the responsibility of crimefighting is when he (briefly) loses his powers.

This trope is written like it's just a superhero version of Ambition Is Evil, but it's more like Neglect is Evil.
