I think it's so widespread that people don't bother listing examples.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman"and even that has more to do with the diffusion of light as mentioned earlier "
Uh, that's the same reason why any physical thing has any color. I might delete this.
Edited by NimmerStillThe page quote - wasn't that Rincewind, not Ridcully? Its been a while since I've read the Science of Discworld, but I seem to remember Rincewind being the one on the planet, while Ridcully and the others were just standing around the lab talking to him. I don't want to change it unless I can confirm I'm correct though.
Hide / Show RepliesRincewind points out the sea being blue as odd, and then Ridcully and the Dean discuss it, which is this bit. While Rinso's the only one who's actually (well, virtually) there, the others can see what's going on through the omniscope.
It is incumbent on me to mention the extreme to which Limbo Of The Lost takes this trope: one puzzle assumes that mixing saffron and water will make a green liquid.
Is there any particular reason this page/trope has no examples?
