Did Ocarina of Time really have dynamic music? I thought it had the illusion thereof..

Hyrule Field was quite dynamic. The rest less so.

  • Sonic CD must be doing some kind of mixing, if not variable, because there are four possible states for a zone (present/past/good future/bad future) but only three tracks on the CD per zone.

The three CD audio tracks for each zone are the present, good future, and bad future music. The past music is a chiptune produced the system synthesizer. This is a stylistic choice by the game's designers, to give the past areas a "retro" sound.

Anyway, Sonic CD is Not An Example, as the music makes a complete stop every time you Time Travel. The next area's music starts playing from the beginning of the track with no transition.
