Klingon Promotion is when you advance by killing your superior.
This is when you advance through the enlisted glass ceiling into the ranks of an officer. They're hardly even related.

^What he said. In rare cases I can see them overlapping, but they're not similar in most circumstances except insofar as they both involve promotions.
What's different between this trope and Klingon Promotion?
