As people have pointed out, this trope can veer too close to "Looks pretty in 'natural makeup'," and the page images reflect that. I'd like to suggest a page image that better fits the spirit of the trope: Moonbeam McSwine. Utterly filthy, and a drop dead babe.

Working on cleaning up List of Shows That Need SummaryI'm a wee bit sceptical to the Gaga example, but more importantly, that picture has to be removed. Thing is, if the trope is about not changing anything in their appearance at all, the examples become very few. The woman in the picture does wear makeup, and she's most probably photoshopped as well. The same goes for Gaga, that while the makeup might be sublte, it's certainly there and it's paired with just the right lightning to make her gorgeous.
Hide / Show RepliesSeriously! I was reading the examples thinking, "Shall we rename this to "Women who look good with a naturalistic effect to their extensive make-up as well as with a more traditionally glamorous look?"
The Lady Gaga entry also struck me as off because whatever goal she has with her image, I think we can safely say that it is not to be "pretty." Women who want to be pretty don't dress up like lobsters. So of course she looks nicer and more normal whenever she tones it down a little... it's like saying, "Hey, did you know you're cute when you take off that clown makeup?"
Goat Boy, I don't know if you're referring to her regular videos or the clip in question, but I can sefely say that it's not how she naturally looks. Even if the makeup is barely noticable, there's stil lightning and editiing to be accounted for. And that's guaranteed to put her in the best possible light.
I agree with the rename! Seriously, so many of the RL examples are just "Women with natural looking makeup" vs the evening look. Do people not know that it takes just as long, if not longer, to apply "natural" looking makeup?
Not saying that women can't be pretty without makeup, but so many of these examples still fall into that category. Should they be removed?
... man, the Gaga example is garbage.

- She looks terrible ... and she looks wonderful.
I feel like we should do this more often. Because media often makes people feel insecure about their appearances.
