Your Mileage May Vary, but Naruto's dream to rescue Sasuke seems to be swiftly becoming this. There was a chance, albeit a thin one, even when Sasuke went off with Orochimaru to get stronger to kill Itachi. But now, after Itachi dies, Sasuke directs his new-found anger about the truth of his Clan's massacre, and Itachi's being ordered to do so, towards Konoha. It has grown to the point he attempted the capture of another country's Jinchuriki, and has fought 4 of the Five Kages, and killed Samurai from the Land of Iron. To top it off, he then kills off Danzo, going through Karin to do it, and later tries to kill Kakashi and Sakura, before Naruto's interference. It is even evident in Naruto; he believes if he can't save Sasuke, every other dream he has would hold no meaning, including becoming Hokage, since he believes if he can't save Sasuke, he doesn't deserve to be one. It's gotten to the point that he states that if he can't save Sasuke, he'll ensure they die in battle together when they next fight each other.
