Parodied by Police Squad, in the episode "Ring of Fear (A Dangerous Assignment)". Mobsters kidnap the boxer's girlfriend, Mary, then promise that she won't be harmed if the boxer throws the next fight. Detective Frank Drebin thinks they're bluffing, so the mobsters show they have several of Mary's personal belongings, like her scarf and her purse. Drebin remains unconvinced, pointing out that these could just be similar objects bought from a store—but he's convinced when he sees the mobsters have Mary's toaster.
