You think we should add a note about how often Rivals turn into Ensemble Darkhorses or Base Breakers?
I think there are two kinds of Rivalry that should be defined...
one type we have: Goku-Vegeta, Naruto-Sasuke, Midoriya-Bakugo. Friendly rivalry that growth together.
another type we have: Goku-Frieza, Seifer-Squall, Every character in tales of Abyss party-Every Demon General, Luke Skywalker - Darth Vader. Enemy Rivalry based on opposing ideology and sides.
