So on this wiki the Freudian concept of the Id and the character archetype of the Mc Coy are meant to be one and the same, however as far as I can make out, the Id is driven by animal impulses and amoral, often self-interested desires, while the Mc Coy is meant to be more compassionate and humanistic. Both are driven by irrational impulses, but the Id is more self-serving while the Mc Coy is more concerned with what is "right" and individuals, thus it seems to me that they are not synonymous.

The problem with that name is that The McCoy is defined by being compassionate and humanistic to a fault. So calling them a “devil” would be confusing.
