Sorry for the delayed response, but I'd like to see it done.
And can help, after my shift tomorrow.
Dorkness Rising: Are you sure the cat's name is Guenhwyvar? I understood "Grim Reaper"...
Hmmm... shouldn't the Stupid Sacrifice entry be YMMV? Death may indeed be cheap, but Joanna's goal was to provide a great ending to the story, as much as this seemingly "wastes" the wish in Cass's eyes. Would it have made a great story if she used the wish for personal gain?
Regarding the Five Man Band trope, is Joanna/Daphne really The Chick? She seems to be more Hero material to me. This would be leaving Sir Osric in the Chick position, which funnily enough actually fits him: Trying to be the Team Mom and bringing a little goodness and discipline into the group of raping, murdering and looting powergamers. Ok, he mostly fails, but competence isn't a requirement for a role, is it?
I noticed someone pretty much neutered the "positive discrimination" entry I first put here. If this were a group of native americans and the girl was a white guy doing the same things, she would be Mighty Whitey played straight. With only one week to look at one book, she masters the game finding a feat combo the others weren't even aware existed, and she solves the group's conflict herself giving the DM the key advice after one night sitting in.
Face it, she's Kirk and this is her latest Planet of Hats.
Hide / Show RepliesHi, I'm the neuterer. I didn't get the impression that she had really "mastered" the game — she just saw how a group of feats could work together in a way they had missed, and given the way they were playing, weren't likely to find again. It's the sort of thing I could see happening in real life.
A feat that allows you to have your initiative modified to your crit range was somehow missed by veteran munchkins? Do you know how insanely broken that is? I would have believed that if the GM gave her a third party source while the rest were playing core only. But in the PHB?
Hmm. That slipped by me. All I took from it at the moment was that she was a more competent gamer than they thought — if it's a matter of a game-breaking ability existing and not being noticed by veterans, though... that just sounds weird.
I don't have time now (though I will at lunch, and will help then), but I think it's time to split this page up by movie. Anyone available to help with formatting and sorting?
