What about cases that appear to be straight but later turn out to be ironic? I've leaned towards classifying them as straight examples because that's what the audience thinks at first.

I'd say ironic. Or subversion. Why are there so many categories anyway? No surprise, I immediately found a Not A Subversion when looking under "subversions".
