I did huge study of this topic. Medical journals and many other sources. It is simple to me. You have sexual experiences or have not refers to being sexually experienced. But virginity only refers to not having penile/vaginal intercourse. We should be happy for the complexities of English. I guess people just wish to complicate a word. Well the word sex is very broad. Has a gay person who has had sex with another gay, had sex? Yes. Has a straight couple who perform oral sex n each other had sex? Yes. Virginity refers to either having or not having coitus (also know as intercourse). Moral judgments can be made if one wants to. But it takes more words to describe all that. Human society is very complex. I am glad it is. Otherwise this would be one boring World. Of course if a girl is raped, that is not consensual and so virginity is not lost until she wants that to happen. Any civilized person would agree with that....

That is an absurd category. Virginity does not mean chastity. It simply means not having had sex yet. If we accept this we have to say that any virgin who has ever had an erotic fantasy is only a "technical virgin" and we might as well dispense with the term virgin. Why ruin a useful yet another useful term in language?

Because there are people who actually think like this for no reason other than some people are too afraid to admit they're not virgins yet really want to have sex. So they consider themselves virgins even though they're really not, hence the term technical "virgins". Though I do agree with you to some extent. I mean if oral & anal don't count as sex, then that means gay men can't have sex and are incapable of losing his virginity to one another which we all know isn't true.
