It does describe something that the story isn't describing. I don't see a problem with it.

I agree with Michael Katsuro. When I first read this trope, the image didn't make any sense, and the text beneath it only made it worse.

The top bubbles work well enough on their own. The bottom bubbles... just confused me, to be honest.
