I was meant to put it under there's more story than gameplay. Having played it myself it was a pretty long game compared to the other Pokemon games and felt much more like a traditional JRPG. Also the ending is just massive amounts of cutscenes with a Tapu Koko fight inbetween.
Edited by ReynTime250Can someone familiar with the Call of Duty series either move the example below the list to its proper place or delete it?
I'm assuming that this won't happen, but wouldn't Cutscene To Gameplay Ratio be a better name for this? I'm going off examples like Portal, where it's pointed out that this game has great writing, and a fair amount of it for a short game, and that's the reason a lot of people love it. But it still counts as low on the spectrum because the story is delivered by voiceover not cutscenes.
Hide / Show RepliesThat strikes me as a different trope - not all story is in form of cutscenes. May want to start a YKTTW on it.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSo why the hell World of Warcraft is so low? Even lower than some text adventure.
I don't want to move it myself because it's funny where it is, but Pong should probably be moved, compared to other puzzle games with no story at all and tetris Pong at least has the context of 'it's tennis'
Might need a repair shop on this.
The description seems to point to the amount of story vs gameplay, but the examples seem to only consider the amount of non-interactive cutscenes vs gameplay.
Also creates huge outliers when story is told through the environment, in-action dialogues, or in the case of something like Ace Attorney, where the story/dialogue is the gameplay.
Valkyrie Profile should probably be on here, but I've no idea where it might fit. There's generally a cutscene for each character you get, as well as between chapters. Also, the opening scene is 45 minutes long, but parts of it are interactive.
Cleanup Please? The separation of Low Gameplay/High Story and Low Story/High Gameplay are completely nonexistent. Also, needs another subcategory for the middling games, who have lots of story but does not have the story get in the way of the game.
Hide / Show RepliesIt's ranked, and yet Eversion and N supposedly have more story than Persona 4, too many of the examples make reference to being on a side despite it not being evident which side it is, or otherwise, it is evident, but they're closer to the other side than the one they're making a reference to... it's all very confusing.
Commented out this paragraph:
It's not properly ranked; in fact, it was placed under the rest of the examples for no good reason. Since I haven't played Sun / Moon I don't know where to place it myself. Someone else has to do that, please.
