I changed my mind. We don't need to get rid of Speech-Impaired Animal, we just need to have it be its own thing instead of being a level on the Sliding Scale of Anthropomorphism, like Intellectual Animal. We can include Nearly Normal Animals, Talking Animals, Partially Civilized Animals, Civilized Animals, and Funny Animals that talk with a speech impediment.

Should this include a Real Life section about animals like Koko the signing gorilla, Alex the talking African Grey parrot and Xavier the semaphore flag using sperm whale*?
- It's too awesome not to exist.
I keep thinking Speech-Impaired Animal would work better as a level on Talking Animal than as a separate trope. I don't know what the other levels would be called, though. But I think Talking Animal should have 3 different levels like Nearly Normal Animal does.
